Gastric Emptying
The speed at which food leaves your stomach. GLP-1s slow it to a lazy river.
Definition
The speed at which food leaves your stomach. GLP-1s slow this down to a “Lazy River,” which is why you feel full longer (and why overeating leads to nausea).
Why it matters
Slowed emptying is a therapeutic mechanism, not a malfunction. It is also the reason most of the gut side effects exist, and the reason meal size has to come down to roughly 20 to 50 percent of what it was.
